  • Univision 62 Austin is KAKW, licensed to Killeen and broadcasting on VHF channel 13.

  • An antenna that handles VHF is needed for Univision 62.

Spanish-language broadcasting is a large part of Austin’s media, on TV and radio. This guide lists the stations we could confirm from their own websites and the FCC’s public files, and how to receive them.

Univision 62 Austin carries local news, weather and community information in Spanish; its page on Univision’s site offers local headlines, weather, lottery results and more. Because KAKW transmits on RF channel 13, which is in the VHF band, you need an antenna that receives VHF. Many slim indoor antennas are designed mainly for UHF, so check the box. Our guide to The Best TV Antenna for Austin and the Hill Country explains why.

Tip: After a channel scan, Univision 62 may bring subchannels with it. Write down what you find, then rescan every few months; line-ups change.

Radio

107.7 FMKLJAFCC: licensed to Georgetown; listed on Univision’s Austin page

HD2 is a digital subchannel of an FM station. You need an HD Radio receiver to hear it over the air; many newer car radios have one. Without HD Radio, look for the station’s stream in its app.

Austin FC in Spanish

Austin FC says all 34 of its 2026 MLS regular-season matches air live on Univision’s TUDN Radio Austin, 104.3-HD2, in Spanish, as well as on ALT 97.5 in English. The club named Ignacio Araujo Escamilla as its primary Spanish-language play-by-play announcer for a third season, noting he has worked in Central Texas Spanish-language radio since 1999. News in Spanish online

FOX 7 Austin posts FOX 7 Español news segments on its website, and Univision’s Austin page carries local news in Spanish. Both are free. For English-language streams that work without cable, see How to Watch Austin Local News Without Cable.

Emergency information in Spanish

The National Weather Service publishes its Wireless Emergency Alerts explainer in Spanish as well as English, and phone alerts are sent automatically to WEA-capable phones in the affected area. During severe weather, Spanish-language stations are a good source of local instructions. Read Emergency Alerts in Austin: How Warnings Reach Your TV, Radio and Phone for how the systems work.

Reception tips

  • For Univision 62, use a VHF-capable antenna and rescan after setup.
  • KLQB and KLJA are licensed to Taylor and Georgetown, north and northeast of Austin; if reception is weak, try a window facing that direction.
  • For TUDN Radio on HD2, use an HD Radio receiver or the station’s stream.

Keeping the list current

Station formats and brands change more often than channels and frequencies. If a description here no longer matches what you hear, the frequency is still a good starting point, and the station’s own website will say what it airs now. The full dial is in Austin Radio Stations by Frequency: The FM and AM Dial.

Setting up a TV for Univision 62

If you are buying an antenna mainly for Spanish-language TV, take the VHF question seriously. Univision 62 transmits on RF channel 13, at the top of the VHF band. A flat indoor antenna that works well for the UHF stations may still miss it. Look for packaging that clearly says VHF and UHF, place the antenna in a window, run a full scan, and check that channel 62 appears. If it does not, move the antenna, rescan and try again before returning it.

Once Univision 62 appears, note the subchannels that come with it. Stations sometimes add or change these services, and a quick rescan every few months keeps your list current.

Radio in the car

Spanish-language radio is easiest to follow in the car. Save 104.3 and 107.7 as presets, and if your car radio shows HD channels, look for 104.3-HD2 during Austin FC matches. If your radio does not support HD Radio, the station’s app plays the same program through your phone and the car’s speakers.

If you help an older relative set up a TV for Spanish-language news, write the steps on a card next to the remote: which input is the antenna, how to open the channel scan and which channel numbers to look for. A rescan is the single most common fix when a channel disappears, and it is easy once someone has seen it done.

For streaming in Spanish, check each station’s own website or app first; that is where stations post the most current list of devices and services they support.
